Azurilland Wiki

Hi there, why is there another Pokemon wiki if there's already Bulbapedia? Cremia2000 (talk) 19:06, 25 October 2018 (UTC)

Also, jsut looking at this, the wiki is kind of a mess. I've tagged some things for deletion, and doesnt seem to be an active admin around. i'm not a pokemon expert (i dont even edit bulbapedia) but do you know who can delete thes?Cremia2000 (talk) 19:42, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
it seems like this wiki's actually been around for a while. the main page says 2005--just a month before bulbapedia's main page says they launched. bulbapedia probably just wound up being the more popular wiki over time, since i think marriland was mostly about guides & forums back then.
me, i'm here because after looking around bulbapedia i just... didn't personally like their content style. q: little things like, for example, frequently doing * in infoboxes. it's silly but that drives me crazy. so i figured i'd prefer to fix up a messy wiki here, rather than come in as a brand new user over there and start nitpicking like i own the place.
oh, and for the deletions, i'd say User:OOeyes is gonna be your best bet. as gamepedia staff they're probably active elsewhere on gamepedia and should notice if you post on their talk page --Eithris (talk) 00:31, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
dp ypu have a discord? i like to keep in touch with other editors Cremia2000 (talk) 13:52, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
i don’t use discord very often at all, but i do keep an eye on the gamepedia slack. i’m eithris there as well —Eithris (talk) 15:09, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
Are you going to attempt for applying as the new admin/bureaucrat of this wiki? Cremia2000 (talk) 05:01, 27 October 2018 (UTC)
hmm... probably, yeah. originally i only planned to stick around for until i was done with my PMD binge, but tbh fixing things up is fun :3c --Eithris (talk) 20:54, 27 October 2018 (UTC)
It is fun--i fix up things on various NIWA wikis, including ZeldaWiki. I think OoEyes is going to open the wiki up for being claimed (i saw his talk) Cremia2000 (talk) 05:39, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
Wiki is up for claim if you want it Cremia2000 (talk) 12:58, 28 October 2018 (UTC)

Congratulations on your promotion. Hopefully this can be a good alternate take on a Pokemon Wiki (that isn't on Wikia) for Bulbapedia Cremia2000 (talk) 00:23, 30 October 2018 (UTC)

Moving Pokémon (Franchise)

Hi mind moving the page history from Pokémon (Franchise) to Pokémon (franchise) (whose revisions can then be restored since i edited that page)? thanks. Cremia2000 (talk) 04:08, 7 November 2018 (UTC)

there we go, moved & then restored --Eithris (talk) 23:41, 7 November 2018 (UTC)

I'll continue marking stuff for deletion that I find around the place. Also I'm not a huge Pokemon expert (and am not super into the franchise either), so I don't know how much of a help I will be in the end. I'll still see what I can do. I think for one, we could attempt to be original and retrieve our own images not from Bulbapedia. Cremia2000 (talk) 16:48, 10 November 2018 (UTC)

i've really appreciated your help so far tbh--having things tagged for maintenance is super handy. & aye, it's gonna be a lot of work to replace so many images, but gradually moving to original is definitely the goal. :0 after i get done with updating all these infoboxes, i may download some roms to see about getting original screenshots --Eithris (talk) 19:51, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
Sup, i got more for you to delete, including merged Pokemon Mini pages. Cremia2000 (talk) 17:34, 1 December 2018 (UTC)

Sprite Templates with Consistent Naming

Hi, do you think the sprite templates (e.g. GenIIIPokéSprites or GenIIIPokéSprites) could all be edited to force a consistency with file naming? Maybe they can be merged into one template where it asks which the originating generation of the Pokemon. Cremia2000 (talk) 17:21, 10 November 2018 (UTC)

oh man, i didn't even realize there were separate templates happening there. what a silly setup! i'll look into it --Eithris (talk) 19:51, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
Also, mind adding a line between the normal and shiny Pokemon sprites? The template needs that thanks. Cremia2000 (talk) 17:12, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
how does this look? i left out the colored line because i feel it adds unneeded visual clutter, but the images should be at a consistent distance from each other now --Eithris (talk) 18:31, 11 November 2018 (UTC)

BW Sprite template

BW Sprite--is it possible to merge this into one template describing a sprite per generation of game? Cremia2000 (talk) 18:27, 11 November 2018 (UTC)

aye, probably. i'll see what i can do --Eithris (talk) 18:31, 11 November 2018 (UTC)

File:110.png Mind deleting some file revisions? There's too many of them Cremia2000 (talk) 05:29, 12 November 2018 (UTC)

This template needs to be fixed, as it appears to be messed up, shown here. Cremia2000 (talk) 05:50, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
JE030: Tricks of the Trade The infobox is basically broken here. Do you know how to repair it? Cremia2000 (talk) 19:27, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
yeah i'm not sure what's up with the file revisions. a lot of older revisions are displaying three times in a row, and deleting one of the duplicates deletes all three, so it's gotta be a weird display issue. i asked about it on slack & pcj said he'll put in a ticket about it
oof, that trainer template's code is such a mess, i don't think i could find my own nose in there. :0 i'll probably just rebuild it from scratch at some point--knock out the bug and the code bloat all in one go
aand thankfully the episode template wasn't too wacky. someone added an extra pair of <noinclude> tags in {{colorseason}} and {{colorseason2}}, which was causing line breaks where there shouldn't be any line breaks. it should be working now --Eithris (talk) 20:31, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
Sweet, will be cool to see the redesigned trainer template. Ever used AdvanceMap? It's a good tool to use for being original with map rips from the GBA games. Cremia2000 (talk) 21:12, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
I asked this in an edit summary but are the TrainerA through C templates next? Cremia2000 (talk) 21:06, 14 November 2018 (UTC)
arright, i've added trainer sprite, trainer class & name, and prize money into the trainerteam template, so trainerA/B/C can be phased out. unfortunately having the trainer sprite's filename be automatically generated would get into a mildly ridiculous number of conditional tags & extra parameters, so i used the old "manually input the filename" setup instead --Eithris (talk) 01:18, 15 November 2018 (UTC)
Should still be fine, thanks. Is there any associated template for Pokemon and item locations, e.g. Kanto Route 2? Cremia2000 (talk) 03:24, 15 November 2018 (UTC)

This file should be deleted but I cannot tag it since it can only be edited by sysops. Cremia2000 (talk) 04:25, 15 November 2018 (UTC)

Hi Eithris, I've not been active as much on here since I'm focused on re-establishing the Lylat Wiki ( Do you like the Star Fox games? I actually only really played Adventures, and it's because of my favorite company, Rareware. Cremia2000 (talk) 19:02, 22 November 2018 (UTC)

i've never played any of the games, but i am semi-familiar with star fox. i like panther caruso--he looks like a cool dude q: --Eithris (talk) 02:46, 23 November 2018 (UTC)

oh by the way, WikiDex forked. is there a way to change the hyperlink from Spanish Wikia to WikiDex? Cremia2000 (talk) 05:46, 23 November 2018 (UTC)

done  --Eithris (talk) 18:30, 23 November 2018 (UTC)
Awesome, thanks haha Cremia2000 (talk) 21:41, 23 November 2018 (UTC)

Good Job

Good job on those pages, wow. How much do you know on the franchise? Cremia2000 (talk) 17:38, 4 December 2018 (UTC)

ty! and a fair amount, i'd say. i've played most of the games since 2004... but i also completely missed the 5th generation and i haven't really kept up with the anime since the first movie came out. and i've never read any of the manga at all, heh
i also probably only seem Really Knowledgeable on the mystery dungeon stuff because i just re-played through blue rescue team. so most of the details are still pretty fresh, and any that aren't can be clarified by looking up a let's play video P: --Eithris (talk) 00:00, 5 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi Eithris, seeing as FANDOM is purchasing Gamepedia, do you think this wiki should fork or are you ok with the takeover? Cremia2000 (talk) 21:09, 12 December 2018 (UTC)

Blog post Cremia2000 (talk) 01:51, 13 December 2018 (UTC)
mm. i'm pretty unhappy with the situation, but i'm also not sure it'd be worth forking this wiki in particular. despite the recent work, it's still a very, very rough fixer-upper, and there are still only three of us here (you, me, and madoka)
i guess that would leave this place to be merged into fandom/wikia's pokemon wiki. personally i have zero trust in fandom... but i have no quarrel with the other pokemon wiki's editors, and i do trust gamepedia's staff to keep user interests at heart. so whether i stay will depend on how things go over the next few months
but hey, whatever happens... it's been a lot of fun, my man. --Eithris (talk) 01:28, 14 December 2018 (UTC)

Welcome back

Welcome back Eithris, missed you. What inspired you to return? I just occasionally browse around here personally -- especially post-Wikia acquisition. I see you're on Wowpedia, how's project crossover been going? Any incidents regarding World of Warcraft wikis? I know two Zelda wikis merged, and in wake of that, i started up a new one called Triforce Wiki Cremia2000 (talk) 23:48, 19 June 2019 (UTC)

aw, thank you. i was trying to remember a bit of code i thought i might have used here, and as i looked around, i just... suddenly really missed working on all the projects we had started, eheh
things have turned out surprisingly "business as usual" for the warcraft wikis. there's been some attempt at getting us and wowwiki to work together & consolidate info, but the two communities get along with each other so poorly that the discussion didn't really go anywhere. q: so i think for now things are staying the same as they've been for the last 9 years
& hey, congrats! starting a brand new wiki sounds like a daunting task, but you've certainly got the passion for it. it's bound to be a journey! --Eithris (talk) 02:53, 20 June 2019 (UTC)

Posting this link so I don't have to copy the entire message.

By the way, what is with Marriland? I thought that was a site that was closely associated with Azurilland, and had number of moves, right? Will this be merged with Fandom, or what? Energy X (talk) 19:27, 25 August 2020 (UTC)

i don't actually know a whole lot about marriland or azurilland--this place was already pretty dead when i arrived, and was archived not long after. i was mostly just trying to clean things up as a personal project for fun, eheh. anyway, i don't see any mentions of curse or fandom on marriland's new site, so i assume they're independent again?
as for the question you linked from eyes's page: my thing is mostly templates, and i had a few i was implementing/planned to implement before the buyout happened. i'm still proud of...
  • Template:Spritebox, based on Template:GenIPokéSprites (et al.). spritebox is my favorite of the templates i made, i really like the way it looks.
  • Template:Trainerteam, based on Template:Trainer (which was broken unless you included six pokemon lmao).
  • And an update to Template:Pokémon (previous version can be seen here). one thing i never got around to adding for this one was an option for multiple cries, so both a pokemon's original cry and its gen 6 updated cry could be included in the infobox. that's something i'd seriously love to see on a pokemon wiki
i also experimented with other things like revamping the way pokedex entries are shown (Template:Dex entries), but i'm not particularly happy with that one. too much going on with the game names, makes them hard to read at a glance. Eithris (talk) 02:35, 26 August 2020 (UTC)
Well most of these you described have been redesigned at our site. Still, it is good to see that you have some basic technical knowledge. Feel free to come to our site whenever you need. Energy X (talk) 16:48, 26 August 2020 (UTC)
okey doke. right now i’m pretty focused on wowpedia, but if i get the pokemon itch again you might see me around q: Eithris (talk) 17:53, 26 August 2020 (UTC)
And here we have the answer. It would be appreciated if you could do so. Just ask for me on the site to give you admin rights, since you are an administrator here. Energy X (talk) 14:20, 27 August 2020 (UTC)
