Maractus (Japanese: マラカッチ Maracacti) is a Grass-type Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

Maractus is a cactus Pokémon, as its name suggests, with a somewhat feminine appearance. It has two ear-like extensions protruding from its head that end in lavender flowers. They have three yellow thorns on them similar to one on he middle of Maractus' forehead. It has yellow eyes and a zigzagged W shaped mouth. Its main body is made of two shades of green (one shade lighter or darker than the other, the light being the main body colour and the dark being the secondary), and ends in either a single star=shaped foot or what appears to be a star-shaped bush. It has mid-sized arms that end in a sort of dark green frill before the hand. Its hands each have three yellow claws similar to its thorns.

Its shiny form has a vivid green replacing the main body colour and purple replacing the secondary. The yellow in its eyes and thorns is replaced by lavender and consequently the lavender in its flowers is replaced by yellow.

Maractus does not evolve.

It uses uptempo dancing and sound to drive away its natural enemies, the bird Pokémon who aim for its flower’s seeds.
Arid regions are their habitat. They move rhythmically, making a sound similar to maracas.

  • Maractus was revealed after Pokémon Black and White was released.
  • Maractus is the third Cactus Pokémon, the other two being Cacnea and Cacturne.
  • Maractus's English name seems to be derived from the words "maraca" and "cactus".
  • Maractus is placed between two Pokémon whose type it is weak to in the Pokédex, Darmanitan and Dwebble.
  • When affected by sleep, Maractus's eyes do not close, similar to a fish.
