Design origins[]
Hoopa Confined is most likely based off of the jinn, a mythical creature found in early Arabian and Islamic mythology and theology. Their names, "jinn" or "djinn", are commonly anglicized under a more well known name, genies.
Hoopa Unbound shares visual similarities with the various Hindu gods and goddess that sometimes possess extra sets of arms.
Etymology[]
Hoopa's name is derived from the word hoop. It's name could also be derived from the word hoopla.
