Synopsis[]
Ash and co. finally arrive at Sunyshore City the home of Ash's final Gym Battle in Sinnoh, where everything is solar powered. He was so psyched because Barry said it was so great. They got to the Gym, however , when Ash requested a Gym Battle, a small hatch opened and showed a box of Beacon Badges, saying that this Gym doesn't have Gym Battles and just give Badges, which explains how Barry got his Beacon Badge and also what Paul meant when he said "That Gym is NOT legit". Ash threw a fit and then an Infernape showed up to help. This Infernape belonged to none other than Flint of the Elite Four, who happened to be a good friend and rival of Volkner, the Sunyshore Gym Leader.
When they arrived at a restaurant they meet Volkner who was less than excited to meet them. The proprietor says that Flint and Volkner go way back, and they loved to battle each other. When Flint became a member of the Elite Four, Volkner was the Gym Leader. But after a while, battles became boring to him. So he devoted his time to developing the high-tech, solar powered stuff in Sunyshore City. Volkner simply lost his enthusiasm to battle and became a shell of his former self.
Wanting a Gym Battle more than anything, Ash came up with an idea: He would like to challenge Flint to a battle. Will this re-ignite Volkner's spark of battling, and will Volkner see a bit of himself in Ash?
Trivia[]
- This episode marks the latest appearance of another Pikachu, even though it was in a flashback.
Errors[]
- The cuffs of Volkner's jacket are colored wrong in some scenes of the flashbacks of his and Flint's childhood.
