Aegislash (Japanese: ギルガルド Girugarudo) is a dual-type Steel/Ghost Pokémon, introduced in the Generation VI games, Pokémon X and Y. It is the final evolution of Honedge.

- Blade Form of Aegislash is tied with Dialga for the highest base Special Attack of all Steel-type Pokémon and is tied with Mega Scizor for the highest base Attack of all Steel-types.
- Shield Form of Aegislash has the highest base Special Defense of all Ghost-type Pokémon, as well as it being tied with its pre-evolution, Doublade for the highest base Defense of all Ghost-types, and is tied with Registeel and Probopass for the highest base Special Defense of all Steel-type Pokémon.
- No other Pokémon besides Aegislash, and it's pre-evolution stages, has the dual-typing of Steel/Ghost.
- Aegislash is the only non-legendary Pokémon who use different forms which uses the spelling "Forme" in the English Pokédex.
Design origins[]
Aegislash is based on a sword and shield, where it's sword seems to recognize it's wielder's potential, similar to the mythical sword, Excalibur.
Etymology[]
Aegislash's name is based off the greek word for shield, aegis, and the word slash.
